Joshua Lee Berresford
was born on July 11th, 1978—one of two children to Robert Lee Berresford and
Rebecca Sue Cable--in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a small town about forty
miles northwest of Pittsburgh. He attended Blackhawk High School, where he
was Vice President of his class both in his Sophomore and Junior year. Josh
served as Treasurer of the National Honor Society and played tennis, golf,
and baseball (and was known as the best pitcher in the Pony League). Josh
performed in both of the plays offered by his school during his Senior year.
After High School, Josh attended Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh
where he graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Communication Management with a focus
on Television Production. Upon graduation in 2000 from the university, Josh
rediscovered himself and pursued an acting career. He attended a summer
conservatory class at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, and in the fall of
2001, went to audition for his first community theatre play titled Big
Bucks, and won the part. Other Pittsburgh theatre credits include
productions of Psycho Beach Party, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really
Reflect Up?, Torch Song Trilogy, The White Rose, How to Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying, A Bad Year for Tomatoes, The Man in the Dog Suit, and
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Pittsburgh film credits include Missing
Jane, Pieces of Johnny, Last Call, and Unrestful.
In October of 2003 Josh relocated to New York City where he studied the
Sanford Meisner technique with Nino Murano and Kathryn Gately. Josh also
attended the Upright Citizens Brigade, best known for it’s impeccable improv
teachings, in New York and partook in the IMTA convention where he was
nominated for actor of the year. Since then Josh has appeared in various
print ad campaigns, recorded numerous voiceovers, starred in Off Broadway
productions, including Birdy's Bachelorette Party, and performs regularly in
Off-off Broadway houses, where he has been seen in Forbidden Fruit,
Test
Tube World, Glass Highways, The Heat in Alphabet City, Last
Days, The Wedding
Reception, The Grand Guignols, and Edenville.
Josh is probably best known as a television series regular on Dante's Cove,
portraying Cory in both seasons one and two. However, his favorite role to
date is that of a serial killer in the short film, Take Out. Josh may soon
be seen in The Way I See Things, a film slated for release in 2008 or early
2009, written and directed by published fiction writer, Brian Pera. In
addition, Josh has just made his debut appearance for the New York City
Fringe Theater Festival in the production Pieces on the Board. Josh will be
appearing in a featured role in the new indie horror flick, Aversion, with a
release in late 2009.
As an actor, Josh Berresford’s future remains bright as the star under which
he was born, as he mesmerizes film, television, and theater audiences around
the world. He would also like his fans to know that he loves them and
appreciates them. He truly has the best fans in the world!
